№02 — La Palma, Canary Islands
An unexpected connection to a place I had never been.
In 2025, I discovered that some of my ancestors came from La Palma, one of Spain’s Canary Islands.
Curious about a place that had suddenly become part of my own story, I started exploring the island through Google Maps. Somewhere along the way, I came across a wooden storefront that caught my attention.
It appeared to belong to a café called Fresa y Chocolate — the same name as a well-known Cuban film. That little coincidence felt like a connection between two places that were already part of my story.
I decided to recreate my own interpretation of the storefront in miniature, with its wooden structure, handmade clay roof tiles, and warm light glowing through the windows.
A small piece about ancestry, curiosity, and the unexpected ways places can feel connected.
